Find the Green Fairy at Absinthe Bar, a bar on the second floor of a shop house serving Czech absinthe upstairs. Will you make it down again?

T
he Absinthe Bar is a shop house bar with an open-air terrace aimed to attract a laid back crowd enjoying world music.

You might have heard of this unique place, (or perhaps you're a member of Expat Singapore's WNDC and have been there already?), but if you haven't been to this groovy little bar, you don't know what you're missing.

The inside is adorned with matte gold ceiling fans, tall palm trees and Moroccan lamps, surrounded by day beds and lounge sofas along the open shutter windows that are typical of shop houses. With tall white walls, the bar has attracted many galleries to hang their paintings.

But people don't come here for the art. Czech-style Absinthe is the signature product (hence the name) and is very popular with the crowd! (Sold 2 bottles in one day!).

Their 55% Absente liqueur is from the distillery of Provence and if you can, try the 70% Absente extreme! They also creatively have classic cocktails, albeit with a twist, such as the appletini, cassistini and vodka green tea drinks!

Also available for the first time in any bar is fresh fruit cocktails like fresh watermelon and orange mixed with house pour of your choice. With courtesy of sister restaurant Aioli, Absinthe bar also boasts an extensive wine list.

The music is an eclectic mix of world music, setting the mood right on ladies night with the free-flow of lychee martini and margaritas, the tribal African beats got the feet tapping, mixed in with French, Spanish and many other world beats.

Every Saturday is BBQ night - pay $ 25.00 at the entrance, you can choose one item off the bbq list as well as get 2 drinks on the house! Great deal for a chilled out Saturday.

The Decor

A pyramid bar extends skywards to give the customer a sense of the height of the roof.  Matte gold ceiling fans, tall palm trees and Moroccan lamps also add to the feeling of space.

Day beds and lounge sofas litter the interior along the open shutter windows that are typical of shop houses. With tall white walls, the bar has attracted many galleries to hang their paintings here.

The Drinks

Absinthe is the signature product, of course. Serve as it should be drunk with a cube of sugar, lighted and doused with a small pitcher of chilled water, this proved to be very popular with the customers. The 55% Absente liqueur we carry now is from the distillery of Provence and soon to be launched 70% Absente extreme!

Classic cocktails are also available with twists on the usual lychee martini – appletini, cassistini. Appealing to the local crowd are vodka red bull, vodka green tea drinks! Also available for the first time in any bar in Singapore is fresh fruit cocktails like fresh watermelon and orange mixed with house pour of your choice. With courtesy of sister restaurant Aioli, the Absinthe bar also boasts an extensive wine list.

The Music

Absinthe bar is a home of world music. Ladies night with free-flow of lychee martini and margarita, with the playing of African music for the whole night. Recreate WOMAD in our place; enjoy French, Spanish and many more world music.
