This Irish favorite across the Vltava has carved itself a niche in the tourist arena of Mala Strana, right next to McDonald's, with a fair number of Czechs frequenting the place.

T
he Guinness sign seems like a heavenly beacon when walking through the dark and smelly passage that leads to this bar, and indeed fulfills promises of a worn wooden bar, misty-eyed Irish ballads, and a sparse and pleasantly morose clientele.

Just before you start speaking like a leprechaun and dancing a jig, the carefully strewn Americana and Gone with the Wind paraphernalia pull you back from the edge.

The good-natured bartender is quick with a beer and stories of how this is one of the wilder Irish bars come St. Patty's Day, so this is definitely the place to get green when it comes around.

Guinness, Kilkenny, Heineken and Staropramen can all be found here, along with real Irish Cashel's cider and other spirits. Down your brews while catching a game of English League football on TV with your mates, or enjoy some live music when it's playing.
