There's only one book we strongly recommend, and it's The Bartender's Best Friend, by Mardee Haidin Regan.

Drinking Establishments - R.I.P. (bars past)

Orbiting the circumference of Mohamed Sultan Road's Gallery Hotel like a rogue planetoid is a cosy two floor disco bar, with an intimate lounge area on the first floor, a DJ console on the second, and fresh art all over the place, courtesy of designer Peter Tay.

U
nlike any other bar in town, Coccolatte has a vibe that's hard to describe, but enjoyable to experience, which means you have to see it to believe it.

Created as a space where creatives can rub shoulders with the biz types, they work hard to to provide the place where everyone can be unpredictable, fluffy and mad, in a bright sparkling atmosphere.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays they have Singles Nite the key feature includes a killer "human jukebox" where you can select from a menu that features 10,000 songs... you just choose the song you want, write it on the board, and they play it. And with a selection like they have, you'll never have to hear the same song twice!

Forget the finicky obsession with the usual club 'stay-cool' philosophy - Cocco Latte stands out immediately for its quirky personality and the vibe that a good time here means hanging loose, disregarding prim social graces and indulging in a little madness.

The artwork here is constantly changing, the atmosphere a throwback to the retro and psychedelic colour filled age that will send you into aesthetic rapture. They're also wonderfully irreverent - who else gives their Thursday Nights a name like 'Eat My Handbag b*tch!!!'? Certainly, a night here will be an absolute riot.
