The Spirit which couldn't be denied.

Rx Kentucky Bourbon

A
six-year-old Kentucky Bourbon, Rx is the authentic successor of the famous Cascade brand established in 1870 by George Dickel in his distillery.

The reputation of the brand, which was the largest selling brand at the beginning of the century, established a victorious defeat of prohibition.

The Rx brand has conquered Prohibition two times. The first time, in 1911, the Cascade Distillery Company was forced to relocate to Kentucky from Tennessee, as extremists forced the state to issue a ban on the production of alcohol.

Since then, production has ground to a halt in Tennessee, so the bourbon could no longer bare the name of the state and the title to Kentucky Bourbon. Using a unique, distinctive distilling process, Cascade became the only Kentucky Bourbon with direct traditional link to Tennessee whisky.

The second victory over prohibition was won a few years later. In 1920, the law on prohibition in the entire area of the United States was passed, and George Dickel's partner was one of the very few producers who were permitted to go on distilling alcohol for medicinal purposes. (And as W.C Fields once said "...and I always carry a snake.")

Thanks to his creativity and flexibility, Cascade remained on the market in times when most of the brands - including Jack Daniel's and Jim Beam - stopped their production.

In these hard times, all bourbons were distributed by prescriptions issued by doctors or dentists. The official "Doctor's Prescription Form for Medical Distillate" was marked by letters Rx. Rx is still used on doctor's prescriptions in the United States.

Rx Kentucky Bourbon exemption

During the thirteen-year-long prohibition, the famous George Dickel whisky was referred to as "Rx Cascade Bourbon".

It wasn't until the end of prohibition and a vote of the Tennessee citizens allowing George Dickel's Cascade Distillery to open again, that the company left its adopted home in Kentucky and returned to Cascade Hollow.

After its comeback, George Dickel & Co. decided that they should stop using the title Cascade for some time so that it would be known again as a rare Tennessee whisky.

The current increase in Kentucky Bourbon popularity inspired the distillery to renew production of the famous Rx Cascade Bourbon brand. The brand that did not and will not allow any institution, especially prohibition, to stand in its way is back again.

Just as in 1912, Rx is made in the well-known Stitzel-Weller distillery of Kentucky. It is again poured over maple charcoal which is traditionally produced in Cascade Hollow. It is again matured in smoked oak barrels for six years, obtaining its exceptionally smooth and mature character.

Rx is for those who like to step out on their own, to find an new way, those who seek out their own path in the world.

Rx is for those people who follow their goal regardless of the obstacles they meet. That's mighty lofty talk, but it all comes down to the fact that people just want to drink something smooth, and mild, and sweeter, without the pretentious attitude.

So don't let anything stand between you and your Rx. After all, it is a brand which one does not refuse.
